Good to see Mark Owen debuting at 5 after so many years in the biz, a legend with Take That and a very good artist as a solo. Reminds me of my 90's days

Who's in charge of quality checking the album cover photos that get published? 5SOS's is of their previous album. And #78's Bond 25 is an Elvis album cover?
Blank
I think literally no one. I think it's an automatic search and adds the nearest match, as I've seen some distinctive images from other sites.
🧡 oliviasnoodles 🍜
was pretty close! congrats to 5sos for the number 1. haven’t heard it yet, but they’ve been on an upwards spiral since their debut! dbe at 2 is good too. ouch at the blackpink and suede drops tho!

the smiths tumbling down the charts is such a wonderful sight to see. lol

Pmsl. I can't stand The Smiths either, Olivia. How they've lasted this long is mind boggling and Morrisey is such a ****. lol

This is interesting. Back in August we were told by troll number 1 that "Finally Enough Love" would be out of the UK chart in it's second week, yet this is it's 6th wk on the UK chart. Troll number 2 said she would be out of the chart in October - tomorrow is the 1st of October and Madonna is still there. I wonder what these two trolls will say now to try and discredit the Queen of Pop.
🧡 oliviasnoodles 🍜
hasn’t even dropped much too 😂

I'm 2 places out after 6 weeks. That ain't a bad estimate. Like previous weeks, anything below #60 (or so) is statistical noise, where they sell probably in the region of 500 copies. It's hardly something to get excited about. If anything to still be keeping on about it is almost as embarrassing her own late career.
A climb to gain a 74th week in the top 10 for a 30 year old release on the other hand...
Now there's something slightly worth talking about. A release that continues to set records with no end in sight.
C
Cloudbuster
No, what's embarrassing are the sore losers who continually moving the goalposts every week to suit their own narrative. These trolls originally said "she will be out of the charts in the second week" but when that didn't happen they said "she'll be out of the top 75 in October" but since that didn't happen it's now
"anything below #60 is statistical noise". . I suggest you take the loss and go before you embarrass yourself any further.
Blank
Check my comment from last week. I mentioned statistical noise about anything below the 60 back then. It isn't something new to "move the goalposts again" for this week. I stick by it now and would ahve been just as true last year. My initial prediction wasn't even about Madonna. It was one specific example chosen for a general comment on today's Album Chart. Having checked every single data point from the Official Chart since inception (1952 and 1956 respectively for Singles and Albums, including erroneous and unpublished weeks), there was once a time a top 5 album would practically guarantee 10 weeks or more. Today, full dropouts from there are common. Look at this week alone: positons 3-5 have all dropped out of the top 50, #4 going straight out of the top 100 and the top 2 almost out of the top 40 after just one week. It would be a huge note-worthy anomoly in the 20th century. Today, it happens every week with a 5 week run being a rare event, even for big acts with new material.
Anecdotally, it has only happened twice before with old acts in the last year: Abba Voyage and Elton John Lockdown Sessions. There may be other examples, but I'd have to look them up again. There are a few current acts to do it in or since 2021: Ed, Adele and a debut from Olivia Rodrigo. Each doing 30-odd weeks in the top 75, all in the top 100 still in a continuous run since debut. Very few others of new material have done that. Or old material, for that matter. Robbie could be the next top achieve it, with a huge reduction in the number of places dropped this week.
Long gone are the once-common 20-40 week runs of 'big hit' albums. Today, they are gone almost immediately (for example, under 10 weeks, or even just 1 or 2), or stay on chart for literally years at a time with very few in between. It runs a little like the late 90's Singles chart with the exception that even the #1 is vulnerable to dropping out of the top 100 in week 2.
It's these statistical changes and patterns that are far more interesting and exciting than any one single artist can be. Especially when we get (or come close to) a changing-of-the-guard all-time record, such as Robbie is closing in on and Madonna missed out on a Platinum opportunity to, and will be several months or years before we see it again.

Yet another boring essay from you nobody will read. I'll be blocking you after this and that's something I should've done a long time ago.
