For one single, which made headlines for being the first debut #1. Not much else made much news.
Although bigger acts at the time were Whitney Houston, 2 Unlimited and Meatloaf (after a long break!), with over 30 weeks at #1 between them on the combined singles and albums totals for 1993 / end of 92.

9 (9) Elton JOhn - Diamonds 716 (657)

Pop Smoke may still be #1 of the year, but Meet The Woo 2 was the only one of the 44 albums on chart all year to drop out his week.
After being equal with Taylor Swift on 4 albums, David Bowie becomes the artist with most hit albums this year on his own by having his 5th hit album of the year - Something In The Air. 2nd New live album of the year.

What's the meaning of this chart?, David
Blank
Official Chart books tend to only publish highest position and number of weeks on chart. This is intended to be a more detailed measure of "Chart impact" to see how big the hits are. To see how big the #1s / high new entries are compared to the old ones that stay mid chart most of the year. Measured by total positions on top 75: 75 pts for #1, 74 for 2 etc down to 1pt for #75.
For example, if they all dropped out next week, it would take a new hit 10 weeks at #1 to enter at #6 on this chart (750 points). The top 3 are each averaging the equivalent of more than 11 weeks at #1 after just 12 weeks of chart action!
Gives you an idea how heavily skewed the album chart is towards the older big hits.

My face beamed with joy when I heard that Tom Grennan was #1! :D
