Terminal cancer patient Cat Janice aiming for first Official Chart entry with Dance You Outta My Head
Terminal cancer patient Cat Janice is not letting her illness hold her back; the last song she'll release in her life-time, Dance You Outta My Head, could very well end the week as her first Official Singles Chart entry.
The singer-songwriter, who is a native of Washington DC in the US - is currently in hospice care for cancer treatment, but has recently gone viral with her latest (and last) release.
All the proceeds from Dance You Outta My Head - an energetic disco-pop song - will go to Cat's young son, transferring all the rights of her back catalogue to her son.
With its current momentum, the Official Charts Company can confirm that Dance You Outta My Head is on track to enter the Top 100 of the UK Official Singles Chart this Friday, debuting on the midweek Official Chart Update today at Number 74.
It would be the first-ever career entry for Cat, who trained as a songwriter under noted hitmaker Emily Warren, who has written for the likes of Dua Lipa and the Chainsmokers in the past.
Posting updates on her treatment on her TikTok account, Cat has urged her followers on the video-sharing platfom to pre-save, stream and download the song.
Cat explained that the idea for the song “came about last spring” when she and her son were bopping around in the car, enjoying the weather.
Writing on TikTok "My last joy would be if you pre saved my song “Dance You Outta My Head” in my bio and streamed it because all proceeds go straight to my 7 year old boy im leaving behind. Please please share this, I need to leave this with him. I hope to make it through this but if not, to all a good night."
Dance You Outta My Head has already seen some success in the UK, two weeks ago it entered the UK's Official Singles Sales Chart at Number 8, before climbing two places to Number 6 a week later.
