Avicii has died aged 28.

Real name Tim Bergling, the Swedish DJ and producer passed away in Oman, his representative confirmed.

The statement reads: “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii. He was found dead in Muscat, Oman this Friday afternoon local time, April 20th. The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time. No further statements will be given."

Avicii first released music under the name Tim Berg, going Top 20 with Seek Bromance in 2010. Following the collaboration Collide with Leona Lewis, his career skyrocketed, leading to Top 10 singles such as Levels and The Nights.

He scored his first Official Singles Chart Number 1 I Could Be The One (with Nicky Romero) in February 2013, before embarking on his hugely successful album campaign for True, which reached Number 2 on the Official Albums Chart in November 2013. The album spawned the Number 1 million-selling single Wake Me Up, and the Top 5 hits Hey Brother and You Make Me.

After taking a break from touring and recording music, Avicii released the Avici EP in late 2017. The final single in his lifetime was Lonely Together ft. Rita Ora, which reached Number 4.
