Sabrina Carpenter fends off Chappell Roan to remain at Number 1 with Please Please Please

Sabrina Carpenter manages to hold on to Number 1 with Please Please Please, despite some hot competition from Chappell Roan.

Sabrina’s country-pop lament remains at the top of the Official Singles Chart for a fifth non-consecutive week.

She may have missed out on her first chart-topper this week, but things are looking bright for newcomer of the moment Chappell Roan. Steadily ascending the Official Singles Chart for 17 weeks straight, Good Luck, Babe! reaches a brand-new peak of Number 2 today, and is now a clear contender to fight for Number 1 again next week.

Chappell also continues to see her back catalogue benefit off the back of her big breakout hit; Red Wine Supernova hits a new high of Number 38, up one, while her 2023 debut album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess climbs to a new peak of Number 4 over on the Official Albums Chart.

Luton-born singer-songwriter Myles Smith’s Stargazing also hits a brand-new peak (4), while Dasha’s Austin surges into the Top 5 for the first time in its 23^rd week on chart (5).

Bl3SS, CamrinWatsin & bbyclose’s Kisses has been flying up the Top 40 recently, and cracks the Top 10 today, up six (7). It grants each of its three artists their first UK Top 10 hit.

She’s your favourite reference, baby! As BRAT summer continues apace, two tracks by Charli xcx hit new peaks today; 360 is up six (12), while viral smash Apple jumps nine (14).

Irish singer and rapper Jordan Adetunji’s KEHLANI scarpers up two (15), while Adam Port, Stryv and Keinemusik arrive in the Top 20 for the first time, with Move jumping seven (18).

Teddy Swims’ emotional The Door bags a new best (24), while Post Malone and Luke Combs secure a Top 40 debut with Guy For That (26).

Following its placement in Marvel blockbuster Deadpool & Wolverine, *NSYNC’s Bye Bye Bye returns to the UK Top 40 for the first time in 24 years, at Number 30 this week. It originally peaked at Number 3 in 2000.

Central Cee scores a second Top 40 hit this week with gen z luv debuting at Number 34, while Bruce Springsteen’s Dancing In The Dark hits a new 2024 peak of Number 35 and Calvin Harris & Ellie Goulding’s latest collaboration Free debuts at Number 36.

Finally, Majestic, Jammin’ Kid and Céline Dion clinch a new peak with Set My Heart On Fire (39). The track samples 2000 banger I’m Alive, and has no doubt surged thanks to Céline’s emotional live performance at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris; her first since being diagnosed with stiff person syndrome (SPS) in 2022.
