Paddington: The Musical cast recording album gets April release date

Everyone's favourite marmalade-loving bear, Paddington, has posed on London's iconic Abbey Road crossing to mark the release of his stage musical's cast album.

Paddington^TM The Musical - Original Cast Recording will be available digitally from 10 April, before getting a physical release on vinyl, CD and Yoto on 22 May.

The album was recorded by the show's cast with a full orchestra at the world-famous Abbey Road Studios, with Matt Brind on production duties.

The musical, which premiered at London's Savoy Theatre last November, features songs written by McFly's Tom Fletcher. The show is now booking until May 2027 following excellent reviews and 11 Laurence Olivier Award nominations.

Speaking to The Times last year, Tom revealed that he found writing songs for Paddington easier than writing for McFly, who have 19 UK Top 10 singles including seven Number 1s to their name.

"In a musical, you know exactly who is singing and where they are in their life. Writing pop songs as a 40-year-old, it’s a bit challenging to figure out what it is you want to say," he said.
