One Direction’s Best Song Ever battles it out with Avicii's Wake Me Up in this week’s race to Number 1.
On Sunday, Avicii rocketed to the top of the Official Singles Chart with Wake Me Up, and clocked up the fastest selling single of 2013 so far in the process. This week the superstar DJ and producer faces tough competition none other than One Direction if he wants to hold on to his crown.
Harry, Liam, Louis, Niall and Zayn unveiled the hilarious video for their new track, Best Song Ever, on Monday (July 22). The video showcasing the lads’ acting skills as US record company execs, Liam as a Louie Spence-inspired choreographer called Leeroy, and Zayn as 'Veronica', the sexy assistant. has broken Vevo records by amassing 12.3 million views in its first 24 hours.
However, according to the latest Official Charts Company sales data, Avicii looks set to deny the 1D boys their fourth Number 1 single, as Wake Me Up is currently outselling Best Song Ever by nearly 26,000 copies at this mid-way stage.
Despite his lead, the race to Number 1 isn’t over ‘til it’s over, One Direction could still pull it back. Tune into the Official Chart Show with Jameela Jamil on BBC Radio 1 this Sunday from 4pm or visit www.officialcharts.com from 7pm to see who comes out on top.
