Ed Sheeran's Azizam is the UK's Number 1 Trending Song, Official Charts can confirm.
Still pacing for this week's highest new entry on the Official Singles Chart, his romantic return to pure pop sees Ed introduce a Persian term to the masses, signalling that his upcoming album, Play, will be a turn away from the more emotional, acoustic notes of Subtract and Autumn Variations.
As it stands, Azizam (co-written by Ed, ILYA, Savan Kotecha and Johnny McDaid) is on track to debut at Number 3 come Friday. It would become Ed's 42nd (!) UK Top 10 single, and his first since the chart-topping Eyes Closed in 2023.
Meanwhile, UK rock pioneers Sleep Token are quickly becoming one of the breakthrough acts to watch this year. The five-piece band - whose members, including lead singer Vessell, are all anonymous, wearing masks to obscure their identities - have already broken through with their first Top 20 single, Emergence, but are looking to go even further this week.
Caramel is the next single taken from Sleep Token's upcoming fourth album Even In Arcadia (their first under new label RCA) and it's looking to secure a Top 10 debut. Right now, it's expected to enter straight in at Number 6, not only would it become Sleep Token's first UK Top 10 single, but a watermark moment for alt-metal rock groups in the UK.
Another new entry in this week's Official Trending Chart is the lead single from Miley Cyrus' new album Something Beautiful. End of the World seems to take in many influences - 70s funk, the light disco of ABBA and even a touch of Arcade Fire's 2017 single Everything Now - in its contemplative approach to the solace of a relationship, even in the face of the apocalypse. End of the World is expected to debut at Number 21 in the UK.
Other new entries on this week's Official Trending Chart include; PinkPantheress's Lily Allen-esque return with the dance-pop of Tonight and Rudimental & Khalid's new collaboration All I Know.
This week's biggest gainer is Shake It To The Max (Fly) by Moliy & Silent Addy - it's steadily climbing up towards the Top 40 (already jumping 22 places week-on-week) and recently just secured its second week atop the Official Afrobeats Chart.
