Oasis reunion tour setlist 2025

The women who inspired Noel Gallagher to write the track Talk Tonight attended Oasis's Los Angeles leg of the reunion tour last weekend.

Melissa Lim has been credited with helping Noel through a dark time in his life after he fell into disarray surrounding the band and its future success.

Noel talked of the incident to NME back in 1998, stating: "I was just off me f***ing head. And I met this chick, and she sorted me head out, really."

MORE: Where every Oasis song and album has charted in the UK

Fans were quick to notice Melissa's presence when she posted a photo of her at the Rose Bowl Stadium gig in California, and the love for her came pouring in. One fan said: "We are deeply grateful for your help in making sure this story was told."

Every song is more than sound - it's a confession, a memory, a moment. So, what is the story behind Talk Tonight?

A devastating and emotional ballad, Talk Tonight revisits a snapshot in time. On the track, Noel speaks on an experience which not only changed his life, but changed the whole band's history.

Picture it. 1994. Los Angeles, USA. Oasis have just finished what is dubbed as one of the worst shows in their history. Noel stands helpless on The Whisky a Go Go stage, nowhere to run, nowhere to hide; but he still manages to escape.

He ended up in Las Vegas and, while aimlessly wandering the streets, he stumbled into a bar where he met a woman, this woman was Lim.

They hit it off immediately, chatting for hours about his life and music. What Lim did was change Noel's perspectives. Noel was feeling angry, lost, questioning his musical prowess and the band's chances of success.

But this evening set a light in Noel's dark mind. Lim embraced Noel's ambitions and obsession with music. She completely understood his frustrations with the way things were going but accepted his anger and channelled it into strength. She reinstated his confidence and ability in himself; moulding a whole new creation of Noel as a result.

After this episode, Noel flew out to Texas the very next day to join the band for a studio session, and they never looked back.

In Oasis's 2016 Supersonic documentary, Noel stated that he can't even remember what the girl looked like or what her name was. A ghostly, mysterious figure. But Lim very much exists, and the encounter itself is painted clearly in the lyrics that Noel penned down intently following the chance meeting. Let's look into these.

Oasis

"Sittin' on my own, chewin' on a bone": Immediately, the opening line introduces Noel's loneliness and isolation. We understand the scene immediately; the rare occasion in which a seemingly tough and emotionless rebel begins to spill his desolate heart out onto the page. Exposed, he continues his story of a rescue from the pits of anguish.

"You take me walking, to where you played when you were young": This gives the listener an idea of the topics of conversation that hooked Noel that night. It evokes a sense of nostalgia and escapism from the harsh reality that surrounded him in that moment.

"I wanna talk tonight about how you saved my life": The line is repeated hypnotically at the end of the piece, almost as a thank you from Noel. There is an intimacy displayed here, one that stretches beyond normal conversation and indicates that behind this rockstar façade, lies a human being who is aching to be heard and comforted. If things had turned out differently that night and Noel hadn't entered that bar, Oasis may have been over before it even began.

In the depths of despair, sadness and regret, one of Oasis's most poignant tracks was conceived.

The raw human emotion that pierces every fibre of this b-side seems to be resonating with others in the modern world, with it being included as part of the Live '25 Tour setlist and making its Official Singles Sales Chart (87) and Official Singles Downloads Chart (85) debuts this summer.

A powerful, enigmatic song of recognition, Talk Tonight truly encompasses the lows that perpetuate all our lives; but taking that trauma and transforming it into an expressive work of art that gives a nod to the importance and clarity of human connection, even when someone forgets the other's name.
