New Music Friday albums 💿

Moving into their most experimental, seductive and daring era to date, Fontaines D.C. finally unveil Dopamine Chamber this week. Their fifth studio effort encompasses potent balladry and anthemic melodies that cut through the murky perils of a strange, undulating world. Frontman Grian Chatten said, "The album itself is a dopamine chamber. You step inside and we test these different mind- or mood-altering pieces of music on you."

Their last record - 2024's Romance - pushed them into the realms of infinite possibilities; but Dopamine Chamber feels like we're on the edge of something more than that. Can it become their second Number 1 project following Skinty Fia's chart-topping success in 2022?

Croydon singer-songwriter Rachel Chinouriri embraces her vulnerabilities on sophomore LP, I think I spoke too soon. The follow-up to her debut What A Devastating Turn of Events, Through its exploration of alcohol, love, and personal growth, the album culminates in her most compelling body of work yet.

Ashe's sensational run continues, as fourth full- length effort The Girl Of Your Dreams lands on playlists around the world. This comes off the back of Stop The Wedding!, the single that has propelled her into mainstream stardom.

Detailing her experiences making the record, Ashe said: "I feel like I've been trying to write The Girl Of Your Dreams album my entire life. I think I made it from the most healed, actualized version of myself and that gave me a lot of freedom to be funny, and dramatic, and heartbroken, and not afraid of any of it!!!"

National Album Day 2026 icon Max Richter kicks off this year's celebrations early unleashing his latest cut, While The Flood Rages. Capturing the essence of ecological collapse, technological acceleration and resilience, the 15-track exertion takes you on an immersive and challenging sonic journey.

American folk-rock sensation Oscar Lindsey is set to brighten our weekends with Sunshine. Containing the single Metal Through Her Lips, which experienced a viral surge in June, Official Charts spoke to the artist at the start of September to dissect his journey so far. Check it out here.

Leeds-based trio Gotts Street Park combine modern soul, jazz and hip-hop on sophomore album Somewhere Between, as legendary UK rapper and pioneer Tinie Tempah drops his first project in nine years with fourth studio cut, The Night's Not Dead.

Erasing the discomfort from our lives are The Avalanches with No Bad Memories. The dance trio from Australia have managed to breach the Top 40 with their last three records. With this in mind, can Robbie, Tony and Andy make it four in a row?

A plethora of albums will be given an exclusive limited-edition release as part of this year's National Album Day 2026. These include Aretha Franklin's Aretha's Gold, George Michael's Listen Without Prejudice and many, many more. Check out the full list on offer here. National Album Day takes place on Saturday, 17 October.

More LP's on the way this week come from Andy Grammer (Big Stupid Heart), Angèle (Instinct), Florrie (Magic For A While) and Eels (Cookie Happened).

New Music Friday singles 🎶

In the pop link-up of the century, Olivia Rodrigo has released a remix of her hit song expectations featuring Chappell Roan. The remix marks Roan's first ever feature and was produced by their mutual collaborator, Daniel Nigro.

Following the announcement of their 12th studio album High Noon, the iconic Blondie have dropped the record's first single, Spectral Eyes. Written by Johnny Marr, its pairing of  crystalline riffs with a steady beat and a bright, hypnotic chorus finds the band doing what they have always done best: stretching their sound without losing sight of what makes it their own. You can read the full story here.

UK grime and rap godfather Skepta joins forces with fakemink to deliver Chiltern Firehouse., as Zach Bryan and Lana Del Rey tell us Lies.

Celebrity Traitors star Bash Croft follows lead single Pretty People with the energetic addition, Good Light. With TV stardom and recognisable musical talent, the sky is the limit for Bash in this seemingly unstoppable period for him.

The next edition off The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping soundtrack is here, and it comes courtesy of alt-rock heroes The Smashing Pumpkins with Black Stars.

The fifth single from Take That's Dreamers, the band's tenth studio album, has arrived. Titled Higher, the song was premiered by Vernon Kay on BBC Radio 2 this morning.

James Marriott is feeling Lovestruck, as his latest single explodes with pop sensibility and a poise that strikes to the heart. Capturing the bravado of falling for someone, only to discover they may already be taken, this feels like one of James' most sincere and unapologetic tracks.

Henry Morris recruits Californian legend G-Eazy on High All The Time. Seeped in 2010's nostalgia and drawing comparisons to Lana Del Rey and The Neighbourhood, the track delves into the messy intersection of lust, love and loneliness, with complete vulnerability.

Hotly-tipped girlband XO present their debut mini-album Need To Know with the lead single, Tell Me How It Feels. Featured as BBC Radio 1's Introducing Track of The Week, keep a firm eye on this fearless five-piece.

GRAMMY-nominated British multi-instrumentalist, producer, DJ and singer-songwriter Elderbrook captures the sense of renewal on Lost In The View, using imagery of the ocean tides, distance and finding home to evoke the feeling of moving forward and opening yourself back up to a new life. Elderbrook recently saw his 2021 track Inner Light featured in the Grand Theft Auto VI trailer, sparking a renewed interest in his work.

Mae Muller teams up with powerhouse Jodie Harsh on Hallucination, a song oozing with euphoria and liberation rolled into a club-pop banger. "Hallucination' is a very human breakup song, Jodie Harsh said. "But we wanted to inject a crazy rush of serotonin running through it. It's euphoric and delirious, and when that bass and synth kick in, it's HUGE."

Check out more hits from the likes of Rex Orange County (Hannah Montana), Beth McCarthy (Love After The Love Of Your Life), YAZ (What It Would Be Like), Motörhead (Orgasmatron), Jazzy (Rocket Science), KATSEYE (Unloveeu), U2 (The Greatest Show On Earth) and KETTAMA & Prospa (Think Of You).
