National Album Day announces 2025 Album Champions

They include a mix of legends and future stars

National Album Day 2025 Album Champions

National Album Day has revealed its Album Champions for 2025, this year celebrating all things rock music on Saturday October 18.

The four artists selected are Wolf Alice, Iron Maiden, Nova Twins and Architects, all taking centre stage in advocating National Album Day.

Rock spreads across multiple genres, helping to develop punk, metal, hip-hop and many more. In short, rock is the foundation of Britain's varied musical sphere. This year's Artist Champions represent this, and embody a mix of new styles as well as old school, classic elements.

Speaking on the inclusion Ellie Roswell, lead singer of Wolf Alice, stated:

"We are very happy to be part of National Album Day this year. Albums are so important to us - it's one of the most romantic parts of being an artist/musician/band.

"Between the four of us, we never stop discussing what our faves are, what makes a good one, what we want ours to be like etc. I hope the romance of the album never dies and we're so grateful for things like National Album Day."

Nova Twins reflect this feeling, saying: "Albums have always been the soundtracks to our lives. Listening to a favourite album is a form of escapism, losing yourself in another world. They're portals to different moments in time, each one marking a significant memory. They are often a source of comfort, love, joy, or healing. We will always treasure the album format."

With the Artist Champions announced, it's only right we break down why they're here.

Wolf Alice are revelling in their success this year. The release of The Clearing cemented their position in rock music folklore, taking home that coveted Number 1 Album Award.

Nova Twins' charismatic album Parasites & Butterflies has seen the duo gain warranted attention this year, topping the Official Rock & Metal Albums Chart.

Architects have also had a very successful 2025. The release of their latest album in March, The Sky, The Earth & All Between, peaked at Number 2 on the UK Albums Chart.

Iron Maiden have always respected the power of the album. Boasting five Number 1s, making each release a spectacle, they celebrated their 50th anniversary this year, and are still hugely relevant in today's landscape.

National Album Day first launched in 2018, and celebrates the beauty of the album and gives artists the chance to express their gratitude these influential bodies of work offer to us.

It’s all organised jointly by UK independent and major record labels association, the BPI, and ERA, the digital entertainment and retail association, representing the nation's music retailers and digital/streaming platforms.

The initiative has supported multiple artists and given them a platform to positively voice their opinions on an album's legacy. This year will be no different and it promises to offer an educational, but also reflective moment on how albums have changed our lives.
