Miley Cyrus recruits Fleetwood Mac to gift unreleased song to Billy Ray Cyrus
The country star revealed a snippet of the gift on social media
Miley Cyrus has delivered father Billy Ray Cyrus the gift of music for his 64th birthday, with an unreleased track titled Secrets.
Billy Ray revealed the news on his Instagram on Monday stating, “Miley wrote me a song called ‘Secrets’ and got my favourite musicians to play on it! I love you Mile.”
In the snippet, Miley can be heard singing the lyrics, “Secrets, I want to keep your secrets/ Like sunlight in the shadows/ Like footsteps in the grass/ I won’t ever break my promise/ Like a songbird in the silence/ Like stones against the glass.”
Speaking on the Monika Lewinsky podcast, Miley revealed that she wrote this song about her dad to persuade him to reveal what was troubling him and the family, so she could “take some of that”. A clearly deep, heartfelt and personal expression of love.
Amazingly, the track includes two of the country singer’s best-loved artists. Miley called upon the help of Lindsey Buckingham and Mick Fleetwood, both of the band Fleetwood Mac to contribute backing to the piece.
Billy Ray is also giving a gift to his fans. He has revealed he will release a remix of the smash hit Achy Breaky Heart.
In another Instagram post, he wrote, “From the very first time I sang ‘Achy Breaky Heart’ in the spring of ’91 to this remix today, it’s all because of YOU. I teamed up with [the song’s writer] Don Von Tress and The Johnson Mill Branch Boys on a brand-new ‘Achy Breaky Heart (Remix)’ as my gift to the fans”.
Achy Breaky Heart achieved success in the UK, peaking at Number 3 on the Official Singles Chart.
