Mercury Prize 2025 to be hosted in Newcastle
This will mark the first time the prestigious awards show has been held outside of London
This year's Mercury Prize will be held in Newcastle, marking the first time it's taken place outside of London.
The prestigious awards show, which will featured live performances from the 12 shortlisted artists, will be held at Newcastle's Utilita Arena on Thursday October 16. Tickets are on general sale to the public now.

Launched in 1992, the Mercury Prize honours the best album released by a musical act from the UK or Ireland in the preceding 12 months.
Last year's prize was won by Leeds-based indie band English Teacher for their debut album This Could Be Texas, which peaked at Number 8 on the Official Charts.

PJ Harvey is the only artist to have won twice – for Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea in 2001 and Let England Shake in 2011 – and is also the most nominated artist with six shortlisted albums. Radiohead and Arctic Monkeys are right behind with five nominations apiece.
This year's 12 shortlisted albums will be announced on Wednesday September 10.
Dr Jo Twist OBE, BPI Chief Executive said: “Newcastle-upon-Tyne is a true music city and we are excited to work with our partners at The City of Newcastle & North East Combined Authority to deliver this inaugural moment and a memorable Mercury Prize 2025.”
Kim McGuinness, Mayor of the North East, added: "Bringing the Mercury Prize to the North East is yet another fantastic accolade that builds on our proud cultural history and strengthens our reputation as a region of culture.
“The success of artists like Sam Fender shows what is possible for young musicians in our region and hosting the Mercury Prize in the North East gives us the opportunity to showcase our home-grown talent."
