Little Mix's Perrie Edwards updates fans on debut solo album

With Mixers thirsty for new music, Perrie reveals where her solo project stands

Little Mix's Perrie Edwards

In light of Little Mix's hiatus, fans are thirsty for new music. Parched. Positively gasping.

While Leigh-Anne's already delivered two solo bops in the form of debut Don't Say Love and Ayra Starr team-up My Love, we're patiently waiting for news from Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards. Something. Anything.

Now, we know Jade's been in the studio with Jax Jones and co., but where's Pez been hiding of late?

Well, folks - we have answers. Perrie's finally given fans an update on her debut solo album, and it sounds like it's shaping up pretty nicely indeed.

Taking to Instagram, Perrie explained: "I think I'm in a very good place with the album right now. It's been an amazing process.

"I've met some incredible writers, incredible producers; people I've never worked with before. It's been really fun, I've loved it.

"It's been a very different process to being in the band. I think it's brought me out of my shell a lot; I used to use [Jade and Leigh-Anne] as my comfort blanket in the studio.

"It's quite intimidating, writing with amazing writers and producers in the room. If you have an idea, you're like 'what about this?' But then you feel a bit silly. I've had to come out of my shell. Going into the process, I sat down with my label and said 'I don't know if I want to write that much, I don't know if I'm a very good writer. I've always been with the girls."

On her newfound love of songwriting, Perrie continued: "As the process went on and I started pushing myself more, I realised that I actually love to write music. That was a surprise to me.

"It's been nice to be [at my home studio], gaining the confidence to write my own music.

"Trust me, I'm desperate to give you music - but I just want to perfect it and make sure it's 100 per cent what I want to release and what I want you to hear.

"I'm cooking away, getting it all ready and I can't wait to share it with you."

WATCH Perrie Edwards discuss her debut solo album:

Last year, Perrie gave Official Charts an exclusive insight into her early studio sessions as a soloist.

She told us: "It's all going really well, I'm just having so much fun experimenting with different sounds. It's just really good."

On working with the likes of long-time Little Mix collaborator Kamille and producer Fred again.., Perrie added: "I'm so lucky, I'm working with such amazing people. I'm really grateful."

While we don't have an update on release dates for Perrie's project, she recently revealed there's 'no deadline' as yet.

Speaking to Grazia UK earlier this year, Perrie said: "I don't have a set timeline [for my solo material]. My label have told me to just go with the flow and enjoy discovering what my sound is going to be.

"The fact there's no deadline in my life just makes me the happiest person. I feel so lucky to just be having fun."
