Kingdom of the planet of the apes

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes marks a second week as the UK’s Number 1 film.

The fourth instalment of the rebooted Planet of the Apes series outsell the rest of the Top 5 combined, on digital downloads only, to land another week at the top of the Official Film Chart.

This week’s highest new entry is IF (2), starring Cailey Fleming and Ryan Reynolds, and written and directed by John Krasinski.

Featuring a star-studded voice cast including Krasinski, Steve Carell, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Emily Blunt, George Clooney, Bradley Cooper, Maya Rudolph and many more, IF tells the story of a 12-year-old girl going through a tough time, who begins seeing everyone’s imaginary friends (IFs) who were left behind as their children have grown up. She decides to help Cal (Reynolds) try and unite the IFs with new children but they discover there might be more to it than first thought.

Civil War drops one place (3) while 1996 disaster film Twister (4), starring Helen Hunt and the late Bill Paxton, spins up nine places following the release of its standalone sequel Twisters in cinemas.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire holds once again at Number 5, while one year on from Barbenheimer, Oppenheimer returns to the Top 10, climbing 5 places to Number 6.

Rounding out this week’s Top 10 is Dune: Part Two (7), Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (8), post-apocalyptic action film Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (9), and finally horror-comedy Abigail (10).
