Kaiser Chiefs set for a second week on top of Official Albums Chart

Kaiser Chiefs are on course for a second week at Number 1 with their latest album Education, Education, Education And War.

After storming to Number 1 on last Sunday’s Official Albums Chart, the Kaiser Chiefs look set to spend a second week at the summit with their new album, Education, Education, Education And War.

The Leeds-based band’s fifth album knocked X Factor winner Sam Bailey’s The Power Of Love (Number 7 today) off the top spot to earn the Kaiser Chiefs the second UK chart-topping album of their career.

The band’s frontman Ricky Wilson divided opinion when he revealed last September that he was joining Will.I.Am, Sir Tom Jones and Kylie Minogue as a judge on BBC One’s reality TV singing contest, The Voice. However, based on chart success alone it certainly seems it was a shrewd move for the group.

Paloma Faith surges eight places to Number 2 on today’s Official Albums Chart Update with A Perfect Contradiction, while John Legend climbs two places to Number 3 with his latest album, Love In The Future.

Meanwhile, Aloe Blacc looks set to follow-up the success of his Number 1 single, The Man, with a Top 5 album this weekend. The US singer/songwriter’s third album, Lift Your Spirit, enters at Number 4 on today’s update.

George Michael’s former chart-topper, Symphonica (5), completes today’s Top 5.

New Entries

Black Label Society are on course for their highest charting UK album to date with Catacombs Of The Black Vatican. The Los Angeles-based band, who are fronted by former Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Zakk Wylde, are new in at Number 18 on today’s Official Albums Chart Update with their ninth studio album.

This week’s new entries are completed by Norwegian DJ and producer Todd Terje’s It’s Album Time (21), Dutch symphonic metallers Delain’s The Human Contradiction (22) and British songwriter and producer Sohn’s debut album, Tremors (28).
