George Ezra and Clean Bandit lead Ivor Novello Awards nominations
George Ezra and Clean Bandit are among the nominees for this year's Ivor Novello Awards.
The Ivors, now in its 60th year, celebrates and honours excellence in British and Irish songwriting and composing. The awards are held in association with BASCA (British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors) and PRS for Music.
Ezra's Budapest, which he co-wrote with songwriter Joel Pott, is nominated for Most Performed Work alongside Clean Bandit's Rather Be (written by James Napier and band member Jack Patterson) and Sam Smith's Stay With Me, which was penned by Smith, Napier and William Phillips.
Meanwhile, Royal Blood's self-titled debut is up for this year's Album Award against Wild Beasts' Present Tense and Bombay Bicycle Club's So Long, See You Tomorrow.
Elsewhere, Hozier's Take Me To Church receives a nod for the Best Song Musically and Lyrically prize, and FKA Twigs' Two Weeks is nominated for Best Contemporary Song.
“BASCA is delighted that in their 60th year The Ivors nominations continue to reflect the health and diversity of British and Irish songwriting and composing," BASCA Chairman, Simon Darlow, said.
"These awards were created to raise the profile of our best creative talent and today’s nominations, which include a host of fresh new writers, demonstrate that The Ivors continue to achieve this. Congratulations to everyone represented here today.”
