Got your ticket? Sitting comfortably? Good. MEEK will be your leading lady as she guides you through her glittery, theatrical excess Beautiful Freeks this Friday.

Returning in style off the back of her iconic hit Fabulous in January, MEEK unleashes her second single of the year, Beautiful Freeks.

Alongside Beautiful Freeks, she has teamed up with the legendary Sophie Muller, who has worked alongside the likes of Sade, Kylie Minogue and more, to release a wildly energetic am-dram music video which celebrates chaos, performance and self-expression.

On the video, MEEK said: “ I was a village panto kid, and it was incredible to essentially relive that positive part of my childhood. It’s really who I am on an integral level.”

With the track and video dropping tomorrow (May 29), Official Charts secured an exclusive First Listen of the track.

Now, let the show begin!

Written as a love letter to her devoted fanbase, the “Freeks”, and to anyone who has ever felt like an outsider, Beautiful Freeks is both a rallying cry and a rebellion against conformity.

“We, Glorious freaks”

“Beautiful nightmares in feathers and beads”

MEEK has a talent of turning her vulnerability into empowerment, shaking off the shackles of doubt and embarrassment, with her lyrics serving as a catalyst for hope, change and embracement.

“I'm well aware everybody's gonna judge me”

“I guess”

“I might as well make the world my runway”

“And yes”

“Coming through and it won't be quietly”

“I was born to make a little history”

Together with the grunge-tinted pop-punk candescence, we find an energetic immediacy in MEEK’s words, pushing aside anything that dares stand in her way. It’s an anthem for the dreamers, the ones who struggle with their persona, to be proud of who you are and own your individuality.

Speaking on the track herself, MEEK also said: “Beautiful Freeks is about recognising all of the wonderful weirdo’s who found me on that journey.

“I wanted to make something that had a nod to the Hey Jude era of British music. It’s been so fun to play out live and get people’s arms in the air.”

“It’s a celebration of individuality, which is something I often think we’ve become afraid of as a society. It’s really very cool to be uncool.”

“This is my homage to all the beautiful freeks who don’t fit in and follow their own beat. Long live individuality.”

Amen to that!

Meek's new single Beautiful Freeks is released Friday 29 March via BMG.
