Emeli Sande’s Our Version Of Events looks set to return the top of the Official Albums Chart just in time for Christmas.
According to the Official Charts Company’s latest sales data, Emeli Sande is on course to score the Official Christmas Number 1 Album.
Sande, who won the BRIT Awards Critics’ Choice Award earlier this year, entered the Official Albums Chart at Number 1 back in February with Our Version Of Events. Sande has since become one of 2012’s biggest breakthrough artists in what has been a huge year for the Scottish singer/songwriter, performing at both the opening and closing ceremonies of the London 2012 Olympics. To date, Our Version Of Events has spent 45 weeks in the Top 10 (including five weeks at Number 1), and has sold over 1.1 million copies, making it the biggest selling album of 2012.
Former X Factor contestant turned Xtra Factor host Olly Murs holds firm at Number 2 with Right Place, Right Time, while Michael Buble’s Christmas album is also static at Number 3. The Top 5 is completed by reigning chart topper, Bruno Mars’ Unorthodox Jukebox (Number 4) and The Very Best Of Neil Diamond, which climbs three places from Number 8 to Number 5.
At this mid-way stage, the combined sales tally of the Top 5 albums exceeds a cool quarter of a million sales. The Official Charts Company expects that to increase further still as thousands of UK shoppers head out in force to choose music as their preferred gifts this Christmas week.
