Emeli Sande’s Our Version Of Events is the Number 1 album in homes across the UK this Christmas.
Emeli Sande has racked up sales of 178,000 of her debut album, Our Version Of Events, this week, making it the Official Christmas Number 1 album. Our Version Of Events spends its sixth week at the top spot on the Official Albums Chart since its release earlier this year. The album has sold 1.32 million copies on home turf to date, making it the biggest selling album of 2012 so far.
Sande, who won the BRIT Awards Critics’ Choice Award earlier this year, entered the Official Albums Chart at Number 1 back in February with Our Version Of Events. Sande has since become one of 2012’s biggest breakthrough artists in what has been a huge year for the Scottish singer/songwriter, performing at both the opening and closing ceremonies of the London 2012 Olympics.
Former X Factor contestant turned Xtra Factor host Olly Murs holds firm at Number 2 with Right Place, Right Time, while Michael Buble’s Christmas album is also static at Number 3. The Top 5 is completed by Bruno Mars’ Unorthodox Jukebox (Number 4) and The Very Best Of Neil Diamond, which climbs three places from Number 8 to Number 5.
The combined sales tally of the Top 5 albums exceeds an impressive 713,000 units this week showing that music once again is a popular choice this year for Christmas shoppers.
