Christmas comes early for Michael Buble
UPDATED 25/12/2011 AT 19:55: Canadian singer Michael Buble celebrated Christmas a day earlier this year after new Official Charts Company sales data revealed that his latest album has sold more than a million copies in the UK.
Buble’s fifth studio album, ‘Christmas’, achieved this feat in just two months on sale and becomes one of four albums to pass the million sales barrier this year. To date it has sold more than 1,272,000 copies, with nearly 317,000 of those sales being this week.
“Over a million albums sold in two months is further proof that Michael Buble is a unique superstar,” Christian Tattersfield, CEO of Warner Music UK and Chairman, Warner Bros Records UK told www.theofficialcharts.com. “He is an extraordinary entertainer who has made one of the definitive Christmas records which will be enjoyed for years to come.”
‘Christmas’ is now the second biggest selling album of 2011, sitting only behind Adele’s ‘21’ (the biggest selling album of the 21st century so far with over 3.7 million sales since its release in January) and ahead of Adele’s 2008 album ‘19’ (which has sold over 1,203,000 copies in 2011), and ahead of Bruno Mars’ 2010 debut, ‘Doo-wops & Hooligans’ (which has sold over 1,170,000 copies this year).
