A campaign has been launched to get the Delays song Valentine to Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart for Valentine’s Day.

The drive has been started after the band's singer, Greg Gilbert, was recently diagnosed with stage four bowel cancer and urgently needs treatment that is not currently available on the NHS.

A group of fans have launched the #Valentine2Number1 campaign in a bid to get his band’s track, which originally peaked Number 23, to the top spot.

Fans are being asked to download and stream the band’s song in build up to Valentine's Day, between February 3-9, 2017. More details can be found on their Thunderclap campaign page and Facebook page.

Valentine was originally released in 2006 and earned Delays their first appearance on Top of the Pops. Check out the band's complete Official Chart history here, including three Top 40 albums.

The #Valentine2Number1 campaign coincides with a fundraising gig at The Brook in Southampton on February 14, which includes live performances from The Novatones, Sean McGowan, Dead Rabbits and Birdpen. Tickets are priced at £10.
