The Beach Boys will perform at an open air show in London to mark 60 years of their genre defining album, Pet Sounds.
The event will be part of the Live at Chelsea concerts taking place at the Royal Hospital Chelsea, returning for the first time in four years on Sunday 14 June.
To mark the occasion, the group will celebrate six decades of one of the most influential records of all time. Pet Sounds moved away from the classic sounding Beach Boy's mirage, opting for a deeper, more emotional sounding project full of aching ballads which has now been recognised as the most important piece of work in the band's history.
This will be one of the groups first gigs since the sad passing of founder and frontman Brian Wilson in June. Widely regarded as one of rocks greatest innovators, Wilson was 82 when he lost his life.
Co-founder Mike Love will now lead the band and will be supported by other long-term members in Bruce Johnston, Brian Eichenberger, Christian Love, Tim Bonhomme, Jon Bolton, Keith Hubacher, Randy Leago, and John Wedemeyer.
The Beach Boys are the second act to be announced after The Proclaimers were revealed to be headlining the Saturday slot. More information on other artists to join these artists will be revealed soon.
